Musical Instruments – The Fender Telecaster

The Fender Telecaster was one of the first solid bodied guitars mass produced by Fender.  When this guitar first came out people thought it had the look of a homemade guitar.    The Telecaster immediately got attention because it sounded so good.  It is a very plain guitar with a bolt on neck and one pick-up.  The frets are hammered right into the maple of the neck.  The Telecasters headstock design is very minimal, allowing for all the tuning pegs to be on one side.  Fenders design allowed for a straight pull on all the guitar strings making the guitar play in tune much better.  The Fender Telecasters thick body gives it a very clean and pure sound.  This guitar is loved by many musicians whether learning to play the guitar or very advanced professionals.

Guitar Strings

There are so many types of guitar strings available it can be overwhelming to know which kind to use. Guitar strings come in different gauges and different kinds of metal. There are alloyed guitar strings, steel guitar strings, pure nickel, silver, gold plated and bronze guitar strings. You can buy Teflon and even cryogenic guitar strings. These are just a few types of what is available on the market. Acoustic Guitars use bronze wound strings. Heavy metal guitar players mostly prefer steel guitar strings, though they do wear your frets out a bit faster. I would recommend trying the pure nickel guitar strings they have a good feel and a good sound. Because the guitar strings change the way that your guitar sounds each player needs to experiment with different strings to find the sound that they like.

Guitar String Lesson

Some people when putting on a new set of guitar strings or bass guitar strings grab the string in the middle and stretch it out. This is a very bad idea. Guitar strings are made out of high carbon steel or nickel, these metals are not meant to be stretched out. When you pull on the guitar string, you make the string thinner in the middle and fatter on the ends. Stretching the guitar string this way will cause your guitar to not play evenly in tune on all your frets.

Guitar Strings – How to Know When to Change Your Guitar Strings

Proper maintenance of your guitar includes knowing when it’s time to replace your guitar strings. When the high strings on your guitar turn black and rusty you have to change them. When the low strings on your guitar (the fatter strings) get dents in them from the frets, they must be changed. The guitar strings must be replaced because a rusty guitar string or a dented guitar string is no longer round and will not play a true note. Your guitar will no longer play in tune.

Learning to Play the Guitar and Bass Guitar – Right and Left Hands

The strumming hand on the guitar or plucking hand on the bass guitar needs to learn to work on automatic: the right side of the brain. When learning to play the guitar or learning to play the bass guitar you must train your brain to strum the guitar or pluck the bass guitar automatically. The strumming hand on the guitar has the ability to play extremely intricate finger patterns without even thinking about it. This hand should be able to pick out the strings and keep a real strong steady beat with no conscious effort. It’s very similar to a nervous habit. When learning to play the guitar or learning to play the bass guitar, the way to develop this technique is to start a real steady strum and concentrate on something else like reading a book or watching TV. Put your focus onto something other than your guitar.

On the hand that plays the neck of the guitar (this depends on whether you are right or left handed) you need to learn to develop a muting technique. A muting technique is when you are lifting your fingers slightly so the strings are muted while continuing to strum with your other hand. You then push down onto the strings to play the notes or chords. In this, you will be playing a rhythm on your guitar strings. Your concentration falls on this hand. Following this guitar lesson you will learn to develop a rock steady rhythm.
