Guitar for Beginners – Lessons for the Beginner Guitar Student – Electric Guitar

When learning to play the guitar I would recommend starting on an electric guitar.  The electric guitar is best suited to the beginning guitar player because it is more comfortable to play.   The guitar body and guitar neck are thinner making it easier to hold.  The guitar strings lay closer to the neck making them easier to press down.  Beginner guitar players need to build up calluses; playing on an electric guitar the guitar strings will be much easier on your fingers.   When you play a guitar that is comfortable you will have less frustration learning to play the guitar making you want to practice longer.

Musical Instruments – The Fender Telecaster

The Fender Telecaster was one of the first solid bodied guitars mass produced by Fender.  When this guitar first came out people thought it had the look of a homemade guitar.    The Telecaster immediately got attention because it sounded so good.  It is a very plain guitar with a bolt on neck and one pick-up.  The frets are hammered right into the maple of the neck.  The Telecasters headstock design is very minimal, allowing for all the tuning pegs to be on one side.  Fenders design allowed for a straight pull on all the guitar strings making the guitar play in tune much better.  The Fender Telecasters thick body gives it a very clean and pure sound.  This guitar is loved by many musicians whether learning to play the guitar or very advanced professionals.

Musical Instruments – The Fender Stratocaster Guitar

When the Fender Stratocaster Guitar was designed in 1954 it grabbed every guitar players attention.  This solid bodied guitar was offered in many different colors, something that was highly unusual at the time.  The tremolo system was built right into the guitar.  It was the first mass produced guitar to have three pick-ups, which increased your choice of tones.  The volume control on the Fender Stratocaster guitar is very easy to use, you are able to keep your fingers on your guitar strings and adjust the volume.  The Stratocaster is a great guitar to learn to play the guitar.  Its form fitted body makes it very comfortable when learning to play guitar.

Musical Instruments – The Fender Classic Jazzmaster Electric Guitar

This Fender Guitar has been around for over 50 years now and is loved my many guitar players.  The Fender Jazzmaster Electric Guitar features an offset-waist body making it easy to play while sitting down.  The Jazzmaster featured advanced electronic circuitry for its day. The body of this guitar is slightly larger than the Fender Stratocaster and Telecaster guitars.

Guitar Strings

There are so many types of guitar strings available it can be overwhelming to know which kind to use. Guitar strings come in different gauges and different kinds of metal. There are alloyed guitar strings, steel guitar strings, pure nickel, silver, gold plated and bronze guitar strings. You can buy Teflon and even cryogenic guitar strings. These are just a few types of what is available on the market. Acoustic Guitars use bronze wound strings. Heavy metal guitar players mostly prefer steel guitar strings, though they do wear your frets out a bit faster. I would recommend trying the pure nickel guitar strings they have a good feel and a good sound. Because the guitar strings change the way that your guitar sounds each player needs to experiment with different strings to find the sound that they like.

Acoustic Guitar Strings

To have a good sounding acoustic guitar the top of the guitar and the guitar braces must be thin. Guitar manufacturers have engineered acoustic guitars for 12-gauge guitar strings. The bride saddle has been compensated for 12-gauge guitar strings. Using the recommended guitar string will make your guitar play in tune.  Acoustic guitars must have bronze strings because they sound better on acoustic guitars than steel and nickel strings that are made for electric guitars.  I recommend using the plain bronze (as opposed to phosphorus bronze) guitar strings by D’addario.  Available here at Amazon D’addario EXP11 Light 80/20 Bronze Acoustic Guitar Strings
